The Uniting Church is an Australian Christian movement*. It shares with Australian people in the search for meaning, purpose and community in life.
It is committed to justice and reconciliation between people. Through worship, sharing the story of Jesus, and service in the community, we witness to the belief that life is most fully found through the way of Jesus.
Note the use of the word,”movement”. The founders of the Uniting Church did not envisage just another denomination; rather, as the name “Uniting” suggests, it is an on-going process of engagement with all Christian groups, as a flexible, ever-changing body of people in pursuit of the ideal of unity in the one body of Christ.
